During a visit yesterday evening I was left feeling embarrassed and belittled by the restuarants allergen policy. Having a severe nut allergy means that ordering desserts in restuarants has always been a tricky task for me and having scanned the menu at the Poachers Pocket it quickly became clear that the selection of ice-creams and sorbet was the safest option. It was at this point I informed the waiter of my allergy and he informed me that he didn 't think it contained nuts but that he would check. Around ten minutes later I was then presented with the ice-cream along with a cookie which had not been listed on the menu. When I asked the waitress to check if the cookie contained nuts she re...

During the lockdown, we decided to get takeout from the Poachers Pocket. Takeout is only available on Friday and Saturday nights, and orders must be placed in advance through their website. Pickup is contactless, which is convenient. When you place your order in advance, you choose a time slot for pickup and provide your name and car registration. When you arrive, you call them to let them know you're outside, and they place your order in your trunk. We ordered chicken wings and pizzas, and the food was delicious and a great value for the price. It was much cheaper than dining in at the restaurant. Everything was fresh and well-prepared, and tasted amazing. I would definitely recommend it fo...

My husband and I were at the Poachers Pocket recently for a wee meal out. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful and a cosy atmosphere. All staff were lovely... However, we ordered from the pub classics menu and although the food we got was very tasty, the portions were extremely small... As in, starter sized. I got the fish pie and the dish that it was in was about 4 inches in diameter if that, inclusive of the fish and mash on top. With 2 smalls bits of carrot and broccoli beside it. To me, it was not worth £12. My husband got the sausages and mash, again, very tasty, but small portion of food for the price. In comparison to other eateries, not worth the money, which is a shame, as we...

During our stay in La Mon we decided to try the Poachers Pocket for an evening meal and what a meal it was. I tried the fish with triple cooked chips and mushy peas, delicious. My fiancée had the salted chilli chicken with triple cooked chips and pepper sauce, best she’s ever had she claimed. Dessert next with myself trying the sticky toffee pudding, on my lord unbelievably delicious. She had the ice cream sorbet selection which went down a treat. Fantastic wee place to visit, friendly, attentive staff from you enter the restaurant until you leave, all smiling making for a perfect relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely be back and highly recommend trying for yourself. Book a table now

Have been meaning to call in to The Poachers Pocket for quite a while and today we finally did for lunch. From the warm greeting as we entered things just got better.Nice decor and a wood burning stove; a very clean establishment including the washrooms.A good balanced menu but we went with the special which was Monkfish scampi with mushy peas, salad and triple cooked chips. Excellent! They have a good wine list and an extensive whiskey/whisky and gin range. The staff were very friendly and professional in all their dealings. All in all a very good value visit we will be back and can recommend The Poachers Pocket for a great meal and service..

I really enjoyed my experience at The Poachers Pocket, despite some negative reviews I had read online. The front of house staff could use some improvement, as there was no greeter when we arrived and it was unclear who to speak with. The person who eventually helped us seemed better suited for a backroom role, as she was not very friendly or welcoming. However, the food and service were excellent once we were seated. The starters and mains were all delicious, and I would highly recommend this restaurant!

As usual great food here and good value. However I was concerned about the misuse of masks in the midst of the Covid 19 crises. Several staff wearing them incorrectly with nose exposed or one member of staff walking about with it under his chin. Shame as service and food is great but would make me nervous about returning.I think perhaps more staff training and /or supervision required

The meal was fantastic, with every course (pork and black pudding fritter, ribeye, custard tart) being absolute perfection. The chef is truly at the top of their game, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was very relaxing. I highly recommend this restaurant. Book a table now

Lovely restraunt, good service and good food. BUT a discretionary 10% service charge for FIVE or more customers was too much, then adding that any tips will go direct to your server. Come on its NI not USA.
