It's easy to overlook a restaurant that is so close to home, but that's what we did with the Pykerell Inn. Located just a stone's throw away, this pub has managed to weather the challenges of the pandemic with new management and an updated menu. The dining areas have a traditional pub feel, with a cozy atmosphere that is conducive to relaxed dining. Our mains of fish and chips and fish pie were delicious, with good portion sizes and well-cooked vegetables. The desserts of sticky toffee pudding and fruit crumble were perfectly executed, though the custard was from a package. Overall, it was a satisfying meal and we look forward to returning, perhaps on foot next time.

Sadly this will be our last ever visit to the Pykerrell Inn. We’ve been coming here for years but despite many changes in management the freezing cold dining room/lounge remains a problem, which could be easily solved by lighting the log fire but it’s never lit! Our food was lovely, well presented of good quality but it’s hard to enjoy when eating shivering in your coat, my elderly mum had to eat with her gloves on! even the waiting staff had on sweatshirts fleece jackets yes, this is indoors. Such a shame because with a warmer experience this could be a village gem instead of the local freezer.
Booked a table for 3. Bar was busy but the restaurant wasn’t at 7pm on a Saturday. First negative impression was the state of the bar and the dining tables, very very sticky? Secondly, they only had half a bottle of “blush” wine and thirdly, the lasagne portion for one was way too much! Food presentation and table settings could have been better. Because of these negatives we won’t be rushing back. On the upside, the staff and atmosphere were fine.
Lovely building which could be a lovely experience. We went here for a drink on a dank, cold Sunday lunchtime and were surprised not to find the log fire lit. When we commented on this the landlady said she didn’t think it was cold. Her view should not have mattered. It was! Also there was no warm welcome here. Book a table now
Went to the cafe with a friend for the first time. This is a very soulless building which unfortunately smells of damp which is very offputting. We had cakes and coffee. My friend's cake was lovely but my carrot cake was very dry and burnt around the edges. The coffee was good.
Really lovely country pub with a roaring log fire, went there last night for a works Christmas meal, we were a party of 15 people, food was all lovely, perfectly cooked and well presented, staff very attentive and welcoming and a great atmosphere thank you The Pykkerell!
Happily discovered that they had Moving mountains burgers on the menu! Cooked to perfection I left extremely happy and full! The customer service was excellent and a lady called Laura was especially nice and relatable. Overall, would come again and again! Family of 6
We visited the neighboring cafe and had an exceptional experience. The service was excellent from beginning to end, the food was delicious, the atmosphere was great, the staff was friendly, and the prices were fantastic. We couldn't find any faults with it! Book a table now
We had a delicious lunch and the staff were extremely welcoming. The building appeared to be an old coaching Inn and the Ixworth street had interesting old houses with pargetting.
The food was fantastic, the portion sizes were huge, the service was excellent. The steak was cooked perfectly.
