This restaurant is not friendly to bicyclists. My wife and I parked in a parking spot at the trail lot and found a rude note on our vehicle claiming we were blocking their lane (which we were not). We had planned to stop in for drinks and food, but decided to go somewhere else. It seems like the issue is with the proximity of that end space to their business. They could easily speak with city officials to make the last couple spaces compact car or motorcycle only. Instead, they seem to be upset and angry, staring out their window. I wonder what other insignificant things cause the owner to fly off the handle? If you sit in the wrong chair, will something happen to your food?
I occasionally drive through Deerfield for work and have always been intrigued by the Rail House restaurant. My wife and I decided to stop by on a weeknight, but were immediately met with unwelcoming stares from a few guys smoking outside. To our surprise, one of those guys turned out to be the bartender. He checked our IDs, not to verify our age (we are well above legal drinking age), but seemingly to see where we were from. I ordered a whiskey sour and my wife chose a beer she likes, only to be told by the bartender to try something else. We finished our drinks and left feeling unwelcome throughout our visit.
I should have known better than to expect anything special. We went to the restaurant expecting to find food based on other reviews, but there was no grill and the fryer was out of order, so they only had frozen pizza available. There were two groups of men playing cards. The bartender was friendly when we first arrived, but he quickly got back to his own activities. We ordered a couple of beers and then left. This place seems to be popular with locals, but don't come here if you're hungry.
This restaurant is a fantastic venue for hosting parties! There is plenty of room for dancing and a great bar. My son's high school class held their prom there and it was like a red carpet event. There was an actual red carpet leading into the restaurant which added to the fun atmosphere. The food was delicious and the service was excellent.

Walking into the bar, I didn't know anyone but immediately felt at ease. It had a genuine midwest, welcoming vibe that made me feel like I was among old friends. The music was fantastic as well. I highly recommend stopping by to meet Mike and Arnie for a truly warm welcome.
Unique building next to the railroad tracks. Love the big wrap around deck. Old building but nice. Clean! Mixed drinks made from canned soda and juice and not from a tap line. Gives drinks a better quality of taste. This was my first time there...it won't be my last.
The restaurant has a fantastic atmosphere with a pool table, dart boards, and a banquet hall perfect for parties of up to 300 people. The spacious decks are ideal for enjoying summer cocktails, and it is conveniently located next to the Glacial Drumlin trail.
