I used to eat here when it was known under a different name and the new decor is very different, think modern, high class boutique hotel rather than they previous romanticfading nightclub theme.They are accepting very few covers so it was not at all busy but this also meant very few staff so it was occasionally hard to catch the eye of a waiter. The food overall was good and my vegetarian friend was particulalry pleased that they didn't take the usual 'v' option cop outs. I had a passable but not brilliant Chicken roulade which was slightly overcooked but slipped down well with an excellent Riesling. The Readimg Room was very quiet last Sunday, like many other restaurants in current times. Service was excellent and attentive. measures were enforced in a pleasant, professional manner. The food was a game of two halves: we had the steak, pork belly and halibut which were wonderful; beautifully cooked and very well balanced. The desserts and coffee were fantastic too. The velouté was very disappointing velouté should be like silk, this was more like cotton. The truffle oil was of very poor quality, barely traceable in the dish. Pros: Nice ambience, plenty of room with lots of space between tables so felt safe, great aircon during this recent hot weather and excellent attentive staff. The caprese starter I had was good and the vege burger delicious. Cons: Reduced menu during COVID not updated on website staff were apologetic and removed the parking charge as a goodwill gesture. We came for a specific dish which wasn't available. Pricing wise a little too expensive. Not clear on website you have to pay for parking
Enjoyed a lovely meal as we celebrated our anniversary. The room decor was great, the food excellent, and the service was top notch even provided us with a free glass of champagne as we sat down. It was also no bother when we asked to be moved as we had been located in front of one of the entrance doors and there was an extremely cold draught not sure why were initially sat there when the rest of the restaurant hadn't filled up yet

Wow. Our expectations were high, but saying this place exceeded those expectations does not do it justice. Very fine dining in a totally unpretentious setting. Friendly staff and vibey soundtrack keep things casual. Exactly the right level of attentiveness. Top marks. Perfect for our anniversary meal, but will suit any treatworthy occasion
Delicious food, wine and cocktails. We stayed at the hotel on a dinner, bed and breakfast package so our meal was included. We didn't get the added extras such as bread or amuse bouche but we were really happy with quality of the food and the service. Would highly recommend and will be returning again soon
Sampled the tasting menu and wine flight. The chef was happy to accommodate a request for a change on one meal on the menu and the food was delicious! The wine pairings were all amazing and we had a really enjoyable evening
from beginning to end, we could not find any mistake here. we were made welcome, both as guests and as a family, eating and drinking were excellent. especially other and james went beyond and beyond in their care for us.

bought a wine tasting with clad by virgin experience days and what a nice time! delicious eating and delicious wine. wanted was especially friendly! was a very nice afternoon!
Very safe but without hindering the experience. Food was great as always and staff were attentive and welcoming. Tables were well spaced and all staff wore masks and gloves
