We were really looking forward to a home made traditional Sunday roast. Unfortunately we did not get that. We had a bit of a wait which was fine, then we were told no Yorkshire puddings left so we were OK with that. When the food came, it was tinned carrots, runner beans, frozen cauliflower, the roast potatoes were lovely and then there was the beef. I've never had such chewy beef in my life to the point I didn't eat it and what I did chew ended up in my napkin. The waitress asked if the food was OK, I said the beef was really chewy, had no feedback from that. Its a lovely pub but as far as food will not be returning for any.
Pleasing stop off for lunch as we traveled home from our holiday. Food arrived quickly, within half an hour and was fresh using quality ingredients. They have converted part of the car park to an outdoor seating area which is pretty with lots of plants and flowers. I wouldn't hesitate to return if in the area again.
Pleased to say that this pub now deserves its previous reputation, under new ownership. The reception we got was superb and our dogs were welcomed, too! As for the food, we had the most delicious sirloin steak on our first visit and were so pleased...
My wife and I have had lunch here several times. The food is delicious, especially liked the cod and chips and Steak Ale Pie. Great service. The real fire gives a very homely welcoming feel. Lovely old traditional pub with great food and drink....

Tried this pub out with friends. Wouldn’t rush back. It’s a charming pub but the food wasn’t anything exciting and the portions were not generous. The service was good but it was very quiet so you’d expect that.
Superb venison, great fish (fish 'n ' chips) with fantastic batter. Pleasant and reasonably priced Merlot (Jack Rabbit, California). Nice pub with good atmosphere despite Tier 2. Could recommend.
Under new ownership. Super friendly staff, good prices with their 2 for 1. Pints are good value. The sirloin steak was amazing cooked to perfection. Will definitely be returning!
