We had a family room, but the sofa bed was uncomfortable for our 10-year-old. Despite booking weeks in advance, we had to wait for it to be made up. The room had a strong smell of cleaning product deodorizer, so we had to keep the window open. We did not receive any response to two emails sent in the weeks prior to arrival. The receptionist informed us that the email address we used (from their booking confirmation email) had not been in use for around 6 years. Overall, the hotel could be a nice place, but it seems like there may be some management issues.
This restaurant is a great spot for lunch. It has a large venue that is spacious enough to avoid feeling overcrowded, unlike many of the smaller pubs in the area. The food is decent and hearty, but not particularly remarkable. Thankfully, it has not veered too heavily into the gastropub trend. There is a hidden pool table in the back and a patio garden for enjoying the summer weather. I highly recommend this place if you are in the area. The staff is very friendly and provides good service. I would give the service a 5 out of 5.
We stayed at The Roebuck a couple of weeks ago: the room was a bit tired and dated but clean and comfortable. The service was friendly and attentive; the food excellent and the communal areas ooze with character. We returned for a meal this weekend (we love the area! and experienced the same positives. The Roebuck is definitely a great venue for a meal out. Rooms: 4
Stayed there before a wedding at the Ravenswood, 10 mins down the road. Breakfast was filling, plenty of choice. Although the rooms are rather dated it was warm and cosy, the beds and pillows were very comfortable. We felt welcome and would 100% recommend. Quite possibly the worst Christmas Dinner we've experienced. Sadly the service was terrible, the food average and the place is really quite sad and grubby. Such a shame, we've had great times there in the past. Service: 1 Location: 4
My experience at this restaurant was not good at all. However, on the bright side, they refused payment and apologized for the awful meal. I would give the service a rating of 2 and the location a rating of 4.
