My wife, another couple, and I made a reservation for lunch today and unfortunately, we were quite disappointed with our experience. My wife and her friend ordered a fish goujons ciabatta with salad and fries, while my friend opted for the cheese and onion pie and I chose the sausage and mash. However, the fish goujons were served on bread instead of a ciabatta, and the salad consisted solely of green leaves. We arrived at 6:15 and ordered our starters and mains, starters arrived around 6:40pm and our plates were cleared at 6:50pm…. It took a while to place our orders, especially for those with hearing impairments due to the loud music and mumbling staff. The food was average at best – my Caesar salad lacked quantity and quality, while my wife's fish and chips were overly greasy. However, the pizzas did look appetizing. We have eaten here several times the staff are always helpful and friendly and we have always been pleased, but the last time we visited (wed 28th Dec 2022) we were less than pleased because of the amount of dogs in the dining room, I counted 6 without checking all over, I think if places are going to let dogs in they should be in one part of the building. Visited here with my husband and grown up daughter and we all enjoyed our meals. The lights outside looked very appealing so we were glad we stopped, the inside was very nicely decorated with very friendly staff. I loved the cheese and onion pie and it was great to have this with no potato in. My daughter had the vegetarian risotto and my husband had a pizza. We would definitely visit again if we are in the area again.
We visit here every time we are staying in the area and we are never disappointed. Popped in a couple of times on our recent trip, staff are always welcoming, friendly and efficient. A great stop off point while walking along the canal tow path. A lovely relaxing atmosphere awaits you here whenever you visit, lovely Christmas tree this year too We only had drinks this time around but still would definitely recommend.
We have dined at this restaurant multiple times and plan on doing so again in the future. The food is incredibly tasty, although a bit on the expensive side for pub fare. The only downside was the lack of customer service skills displayed by the girl at the bar when we went to settle the bill - she seemed quite unhappy. Despite this, we had an overall perfect experience and will not let this deter us from returning.
Have lost count of the times we have eaten here. We keep coming back because the food is great. Menu changes regularly. Some of the menu items are a bit different to regular pub food and this is excellent. Have ordered many a meal with a little anticipation because some of dishes are unusual but every time we are surprised how good it it. Not had a bad meal so far. Keep up the good work.
