My wife and I recently spent four nights at the Sir William Hotel in Grindleford and we highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates fantastic hospitality, delicious food, and well-maintained rooms. Terry and Helen run a welcoming establishment, and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel at home and cater to our every need. The hotel is conveniently located for accessing various walks, bike rides, and short drives to nearby towns including Bakewell, Buxton, and Castleton. We look forward to returning to the Sir William not only to explore more of the Peak District but also to visit our new friends. A big thank you to Terry, Helen, Natalie, and especially Nick.

The Sir William Hotel is the perfect location for a stay in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside. Our room was really comfortable, had all the amenities we needed and was quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed a splendid dinner in the spacious dining room which has a beautiful view overlooking the Derwent Valley. The following morning the sun shone through the windows as we enjoyed a sumptuous breakfast. The hotel owner and his wife were delightful, giving us plenty of attention and information about the area. I particularly liked the numerous photographs both old and new of local scenes that adorned the walls. I would recommend this establishment very highly.

The Sir William has had mixed fortunes recently and was closed for a while, but with the arrival of a new chef, I hope things will turn things around. We are local and went with 2 friends for dinner. I have to say that the local rumours were correct we all had a fantastic meal there. Not an enormous menu, but carefully thought with variety and innovation. We are fans of Sunday Lunch out in the Peak District and I have to say that we went and had one of the best lunches here in a while! A great addition to local hostelries and one which we will be using many times in the future!

While out sightseeing, we stumbled upon Sir William and decided to stop in for a late lunch. We were able to sit anywhere, so we chose a table by a big bay window with a lovely view of the hillsides. The food was delicious - we began with a shared fish cake and then my wife had the perfectly cooked fish and chips. I opted for the tomato and roasted red pepper soup paired with a sandwich filled with sausage and onion jam on grainery bread. Both were very tasty. We also enjoyed a Carling beer from the bar.
