booked for the birthday of my wife. Peak time on a Saturday night, but we were taken directly on our table and excellent service all night. that was great. four of us then shared the sharing board with a steak, a black escalope and 2 filled lamb specialties. we shared a pudding and had 2 coffees, 2 softdrinks, a pint and a bottle of champagne. bill came to £41 a head with pointed. fantastic food and service and good value for the quality of food. would recommend to everyone. only negative were limited beer available, but they would go here for eating first line.
My first visit (post-celiac diagnosis) to The Punter. This used to be one of my favourite places to eat in town so I was excited to hear they have robust cross-contamination processes in place and a dedicated gf fryer. We tried the confit duck with braised cabbage and dauphinoise potatoes and the steak-frites. Everything was delicious and great value for what we got. I had absolutely no reaction eating here and will definitely be back!
After looking at the website, I found that there are very few gluten-free options available. There are hardly any main dishes and no desserts that I could see. Being a vegetarian, my options were limited to just chips and salad. I wish that more restaurants would make more of an effort to cater to those with gluten allergies, as it is a medical condition for me, not a choice.
Easy location in Cambridge to meet without all the usual hassle. Lovely building and a great ambience. Staff very accommodating and we overstayed our welcome but they didn't seem to mind. Food was delicious we only had the soup and main meal finished with a nice coffee. Highly recommend.

I attended a Christmas party at this restaurant, and the food was delicious with plenty of options to choose from. The standout dessert was the amazing sticky toffee pudding.
