Was hoping new ownership would have revitalized what could be a great spot. Our waitress was a sweet girl and the food we ordered (wraps) was reasonably good. My question to the new owners... How do you expect to succeed when you have gone so cheap with the renovations and decor that most people in this neighbourhood would be ashamed to have their own basements look like this? A video wall with 4 garbage tvs and a 2 inch bevel between them. This was great in 1997. It is an embarrassment today. Nobody will choose The Stout Monk to watch a sporting event when the 15 year old tv at grandma's house is superior. Covering half the place with white brick wallpaper is another choice that demonstrate...
Best Kept Secret. We happened upon this restaurant because of a coupon in the Entertainment Guide and were pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is of an Irish/Scottish local pub with some tables off to the side for quieter dining. The food was great. We had the steak frittes done perfectly and the deluxe burger with all the toppings (amazing). Another table had a huge plate of nachos that looked fully loaded and equally amazing. There are some heart smart choices on the menu as well that were interesting. Our server was the best part. She was attentive, friendly, engaging and made our experience that much better.Would definitely come back.
Used to really love the place before they renovated it. Absolutely no idea what they were thinking. It went from a cozy and consistent pub style to a club vibe that makes zero sense for the suburbs .W Whenever I went there pre renovation it was full of families and couples and just regular people from the SUBURBS it 's surrounded by.On my last visit, obnoxiously loud club style thumping was blaring over the speakers at 3pm. The place was empty and it was impossible to even have a conversation with my friend.Bring back the pub style local vibe. The new ambience bjectively makes no sense for the stout monk considering where it 's located.
Nice pub. My boyfriend and I have been here a couple times, always satisfied with the food. Ordered the salmon salad which was great. My favourite day is Tuesday because all their appetizers are 6$!! Have tried the jalapeno poppers, spinach dip, mushroom ravioli, lamb sliders, quesadilla... all very good. Book a table now
Great food, great service and very consistent. Nachos, wings and burgers are top tier as far as pubs go. Place is well rub and the head chef is very great. Monthly specials keep the menu fresh and let you know you're getting real food here and not pre cooked heated up trash. Great oakvle pub
Aren was a great server, he found the time to make everyone feel welcome while it was extremely busy. He was the only person serving at the time and still was able to give our drinks and food in quick time. Very impressed with Aren and will definitely be coming back!
We had an amazing experience at the Stout Monk! The male bartender we had gave us great service, we had an amazing peach spicy margarita with our meal and we jammed out to awesome 90’s hits. He even let us make song requests! Would recommend a visit ?
Pretty dead just after lunch time on a Friday afternoon. Going through a rebrand from a typical pub to a trendy restaurant. Food was ok, ordered steak frites and fish which came out pretty dry. Was in the area so decided to try out the restaurant. Book a table now
Came here after work with friends and saw the Stout Monk got a glow up. Service was great and our server, Aren, was very attentive. The quesadilla was awesome. Will be back.
