fantastic eating with a good choice. would highly recommend eating here. the service was however appalling. I had booked a week before and was looking forward to a special lunch with friends. we were shown our table and continued to sit there, ignored for 35 minutes! At some point I asked one of the four waiting hired if we could wish the order - they were not busy and stood in the restaurant until we talk most of this time to each other. After specifically requesting in our booking to have a table in the conservatory, we arrived to be told that the staff hadn 't noticed the request and we were unable to sit at any of the 4 spare tables, as the fifth large table had been reserved by a group of gentlemen who were holding a business meeting lunch. Sounds like bad business to sterilise approximately 20 covers and, despite the staff asking the gentlemen if they minded if we sit there, the body language meant that we opted for the main restaurant area. We enjoyed our visit, the pub was full and we were greeted with a smile, our table was ready but staff were happy to let us enjoy the first drink in the bar, which was warm and welcoming. The food was good, as wa the service.
