Shocking dining experience! An absolute travesty!! This used to be a superb pub (service and fayre); in the days when its exterior was adorned in a lovely duck egg blue, in keeping with it’s wonderfully quirky name. Stood at the bar we were ignored by the 3 members of staff engaged in private conversation. After a few minutes of awkwardness, we had to ask for some service. The menu (which had suffered more than it’s fair share of spillages) was not very extensive (only 3 grill choices). The wine menu was poorly constructed of single sheet papers squeezed into a narrow binder, not easy to open and peruse (it fell apart in my hand). I left feeling unsatisfied after a Sunday lunch in September and would recommend looking elsewhere. The potatoes were rock solid, and the tables were so sticky and dirty that everything stuck to them. The staff seemed unable to figure out how to split a bill five ways. Our Sunday lunch didn’t include vegetables and gravy, and we had to ask for them, which finally arrived five minutes later. I submitted a formal complaint to the manager, Julie, via email but received no response. 6 of us dined here on a Thursday evening, arriving at 6:15. We had one of the dining areas almost to ourselves, for the first 20 minutes, until other (somewhat noisy) guests arrived and when we left at 8:20 the dining areas were full and buzzing. I ate bbq lamb rump, and thought it was excellent, followed by sticky toffee pudding. Negatives: my son's first pint of Doombar had to be returned, and replaced. Table top was a bit sticky. I'm not typically one to voice my dissatisfaction, and it took a lot of courage for me to speak up this time, especially since I left most of my meal uneaten due to it being so undercooked. My starter was also quite disappointing – it was dry, cold, and tasteless halloumi, but I didn't even bother mentioning that. It's really unfortunate, as I've had good experiences here in the past.

Went here for a birthday meal. Be advised that the while you wait freshly baked bread is not a starter but more than sufficient for 4 people to share. I recommend the crispy duck leg small plate. I was pleased to see Ravenswood Zin on the wine list, it 's one of my favourites but hard to come by. Service: 3 Location: 3
Food took quite a while to be served. Had chicken caesar salad. Chicken lovely but bacon overdone and not much of it, croutons rock solid, hardly any dressing. Charged for red wine and coffee we hadn't ordered, so had to ask for amended bill Service: 4 Location: 3
