We visited as a family of 5 on Tuesday last week. Right from entering the store the welcome was amazingly rude (not just unfriendly but pointedly rude), but as we’d made a special trip we decided to stay. The older woman at the front store desk grunted at us and gestured with her head to show the direction of the cafe. We took a table in the otherwise empty restaurant and were lignite for 10 minutes until the same lady came through and gave us a row for not having gone inside to ‘give our names and everything!’. We had no idea.! The food we got was great and the setting lovely and the younger waitresses were neutral in their service (but the rude, grumpy one was definitely in charge and sett...

Our group of four decided to visit this place after seeing the big brown tourist signs to Glenbarr Cafe and Garden Centre on the A83 just north of Campbeltown. After seeing the front of the shop, which was just like a small village stores, upon entering, we were met with a very impressive and very well stocked gift shop and post office, and through the back doors was the garden centre and cafe area. All I can say is, what a genuine surprise it was. The cafe itself is very clean and tidy, and has a large and varied menu. Anything from sandwiches, soup etc, on to larger meals and the most tasty cakes. All the staff, both at the gift shop and post office, through to the cafe and garden centre w...

Recommended when we visited family in Campbeltown. Found it difficult to locate online and on trip advisor but not to be missed! Signposted Glenbarr stores and garden centre with cafe sign from the A83. Double entrance on loop road through village. In my opinion easily missed as we have passed numerous times and not visited. However, after today’s visit we will be back again when in the area. We booked a table online and were seated inside after a wander around the plant area. A lovely selection on the menu for everybody, with coffees and alcohol served with our lunch. Really delicious food, great service and a lovely seating area inside and outside. Nice paintings on display and a store wit...

I was delighted to see that the Stores had reopened and that the Greenhouse space had been set up in a very inviting way. The service was top-notch and the food was delicious. While there may not have been as many choices as before since it had just reopened, what we did order was fantastic. The smoked salmon platter was excellent and the Ploughman's had plenty of cheese to satisfy even the hungriest of diners. The staff even brought water for our dogs without us having to ask, which was a nice touch. I hope that now that it's back in business, it continues to thrive as it's a wonderful place to stop on a journey down the Kintyre Peninsula. Book a table now

I have passed by this restaurant many times over the past few years, but today I finally went in for tea and cake. I was not disappointed! The venue was lovely, the staff were friendly, and the tea and homemade cakes were delicious. I will definitely be back to try more of their offerings. They also have some other nice food options that I will have to try on my next visit. The garden center is also nice, although we didn't visit it this time. The atmosphere was peaceful, with delightful sparrows chirping in the sun trap outdoor area.

This is a great spot for a lunch stop. There is a lovely table outside and the service is friendly. The Ploughman's lunch was delicious, with local cheeses, homemade bread, and local ham served with chutney and a fresh salad. The homemade burgers and ham and cheese paninis were also a hit, both served with a side salad. The selection of homemade cakes was fantastic, especially the Victoria sandwich made with fresh cream and the strawberry tart. Overall, a lovely lunch experience in the sunshine. Highly recommended.

Out for a run today, popped in here. We were lucky to be served we hadn't booked (mustn't forget next time). Had soup (lovely, homemade) and sandwiches (delicious bread, packed with meat filling), followed by coffee. Fantastic, we'll bring friends here next time, when I'll have to sample the cakes they looked absolutely scrumptios! Staff very friendly, especially the lady at the front desk, who told us of the history of the shop.

We stopped off here whilst driving down the Mull of Kintyre. What a surprisingly excellent chance stopover for lunch. The food here was excellent with a lovely atmosphere in a garden centre. Service was great and its dog friendly which can be few and far between in Scotland. Couldn't recommend this place more. Book a table now
