The Wayfarer Oyster House

Whitehorse has a much better food scene than anyone who hasn’t been there would expect, but this is the very best of it! Over two visits we literally ran the menu, trying everything they had to offer. (OK, we skipped the marinated olives, but we have had a lot of olives in our time and choices must be made. Everything was good and a number of things were outstanding. We sat at the bar on our first visit, and, honestly, liked that better than the table on the second visit. The bartender was busy but friendly and it had such a vibrant, happening vibe. The cocktails and wine that we had with the food were fun and tasty. We won’t go back to Whitehorse without going back to Wayfarer.

Ambience was nice; well lit with a good vibe. The server was disengaged and not welcoming and disappeared for quite awhile when we were waiting to pay. At one point another server came by when our meals arrived and asked if we wanted something with our fries such as aioli. We said yes. We were stunned to find out later they charged $2. On the plus side, the arctic char dish was delicious and ample.

I really enjoy this restaurant and their oysters are fantastic! They would be a wonderful choice for any special occasion.
