My family and I, a group of six in total, visited The Wheatsheaf on a Sunday for lunch. My partner had called ahead to ensure there was enough space for his family to come for a meal and was told there was plenty of room. However, when we arrived, we were met with a surprised look and told that they were only expecting two people. We were asked to wait while another table finished their coffee and were finally invited in after a few minutes. Despite expecting a busy restaurant, there were hardly any customers present and we noticed some tables that could have accommodated more guests if necessary. Breakfast options were limited to a greasy cooked breakfast with no toast, cereal, or juice. When I asked for just toast on the second morning, I was given cheap bread and margarine. The owner was intrusive and not very helpful or informative, despite booking taxis for us. When we raised our concerns, he was dismissive, offered no apology, and became defensive. The price for two nights was high and not worth it, as locals informed us that there are better bed and breakfast options in the village. I would not stay here again.

Called in early evening for a quick drink to see how the pub was under new owners and stayed for excellent fish and chips. Crisp light batter, fresh fish which flaked and crumbled and home-made chips as good as we have tasted in quite...a while and great value. The menu is very limited at the moment but what they do is very good. Great to see the pub back in good hands. Very friendly and efficient service and nice atmosphere. We will be back!

We stopped in for a quick look round and ended up enjoying a lovely roast lunch and a nice pint of cider. The food was huge! Extra boat of gravy with roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, loads of veg and plenty of meat. Very nice pub...with the usual green king selection of beers etc. Will most definitely be back for more!
