This pub has a decor that harkens back to the 1960s, and it is severely outdated. The furniture is truly eclectic, with squeaky stools, mismatched chairs and tables, and upholstery that appears to be taken from a third-class British Rail train and haphazardly pinned to the benches. The worn-out carpet and stinky toilets only add to the dismal ambiance. Even sitting outside is a depressing experience, with ripped and torn canopies, broken furniture, and an overall feeling of desolation. We stopped at the White Hart on our way back from vacation to take a break from driving. We have been to this pub before and knew we would find good drinks and food. The staff greeted us warmly as we ordered our drinks and menus. We didn't have to wait long before our orders were taken, which included Scampi and chips and Steak ale pie with chips and gravy. Although the pub wasn't too busy, there were still quite a few customers and the atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable. Our meals arrived promptly and were well presented. We stayed overnight at The White Hart for the second time with our motorhome. The pub is part of the Britstop Scheme and Daniel welcomed us warmly once again. The village pub has a friendly atmosphere and the locals are happy to chat. Daniel serves delicious pub grub, most of it homemade. My husband had the steak and ale pie, while I had the chilli. The portions were generous, the food was hot, and the prices were reasonable. We will definitely be returning again.
