After an afternoon of visit and sightseeing in Munich's hair we were looking for a good, authentic Italian food. They recommended a place they had, so we went there. The Osterio Tintoretto is after the Italian painter of the 16th Named and offers authentic Italian cuisine that is so honored to the artist. The restaurant itself has a local atmosphere, and the service staff was friendly and welcoming even though we had no reservations. This popular Italian restaurant looks to be the place to go in the area. If you arrive at 8 on a Friday, be prepared to wait but you will likely get a free glass of wine. Their English isn't the best, but is good enough to get the job done, and they have English menus if you aren't comfortable with Italian or German. The brick oven pizza is really good, and the steaks and veal are equally good. Service is friendly and attentive, and the vibe is great people constantly coming and going. There are several Italian restaurants in the area, but I found this to be the best overall.
Had a great pizza my husband had a pasta. But the price of drinks is the reason we will not be returning. €4 for a glass of coke (flat poured out of a 2 litre bottle), €6.50 for a sip of grappa almost €4 for an Espresso! It 's hardly a Michelin star restaurant nor is it downtown Munich. It 's in a residential area about 15 kms outside Munich. I work in downtown Munich go out often enough to know that you wouldn 't even pay that much for drinks in the City, never mind a suburb that far away.
We visited here between Christmas and New Year and the place was packed. There was a great atmosphere in the restaurant and the service was fast and efficient. The pizzas were huge (and tasty) and I thought it was a good value for money. Would definitely visit again.
