I ordered a vegan-bean-and-rice burrito and this place did not offer me any salsa to go with my burrito. For example, they are supposed to offer and say to the customer, “Would you like mild salsa or hot salsa, red or green.” Nope, they didn’t even bother. They claimed that the salsa was already inserted into my burrito, but I did not taste any salsa in my burrito and my burrito was not even anywhere near to hot and spicy. Any other taco joints, anywhere else, will give you ATLEAST one or two little containers of salsa, just in case you want a more hot and spicy flavor with the meal, which was what I wanted. We visit Tio's Tacos often, and when we have visitors, we like to take them there because it's such a unique restaurant. Usually the food is good but really we go for the experience. This time, the food was almost not okay. I'm not sure if its because it was closing time or because it was after a holiday or if they changed something in the kitchen, but the food was not subpar. The tortillas tasted like they were supposed to have a LONG shelf life. If you are a tortilla eater, you know the difference. The asada tacos were SO greasy. Highly highly highly recommend this place. It is very urban. You want to sit out on the back patio with out a dought. And while you're waiting for your food, you look around at all The artwork that was made from garbage and other creative Items, it truly is magnificent. You will not be disappointed and the prices are very reasonable and the food is amazing! I've put some pictures of just a little bit of the artwork. Went to this place based on reviews and the food was so gross I would not recommend especially because it's so expensive the meat taste old like left overs nothing is fresh the salsa was nasty.. the only thing that was enjoyable was the Agua Fresca I got.
I was not impressed with the taste of the food, however the atmosphere is spectacular. I was very impressed by the large, intricate art displayed outside the restaurant. This is a fun, afternoon date destination.
Tio's is the only place I go for fish tacos. All of their flavors are absolute perfection. The trash to treasure artistry of the place is absolutely amazing and inspiring.
