Toro Japanese - Table reservation

Who would expect to find good Japanese food in a small city in Texas with a population of 10,000? Not me. This recently opened restaurant serves local style dishes, sans the Hibachi style and sushi. When I was here for the first time, I had to try two dishes. I ordered the Vernon roll (picy crab, shrimp tempoura, avocado and cream cheese) and was not disappointed. I was a little surprised with the first bite. I never had sushi served warm. After this short moment of confusion, I could enjoy it completely. The bite alone was enough to make sure I'm back. I also had an order from Hibachi beef. It came with the typical stack of fried rice and cooked vegetables. The rice is up there near the top...

For Hibachi style food, that was pretty good. Between us all at the party we had chicken, steak, shrimp and fillet. Everything was very tasteful and the steak/filet was cooked for perfection. Waitstaff was friendly and food was served quickly (a lot faster than a regular Hibachi grill). There's no show, but who cares if you're hungry and just want a good meal?

I dont know how anyone could give this place anything under 5 stars! Toro is an amazing restaurant full of a wide variety of fresh and delicious food. A true hidden gem for vernon, tx. I eat here 3-4x a week and have never once been disappointed! The staff is always friendly and quick. The food is hot and fresh. My favorite place to eat by far in vernon!

Travelled from Colorado to Dallas and found this hidden gem! Was not expecting to find such great Japanese food in this small Texas town. Owner and staff were super friendly and food was 10/10. I highly recommend!

Food is great, Steak was the tenderest thing I ever had, big portions, really good food. The restaurant differs from what you would find in a Dallas Hibachi.
