Went here for lunch with my wife and girlfriend. Asked what was the fish in their special that was a seafood basket for one - Bassa, OK not eating that, what is the fish that comes with prawns and squid on top? Went here for coffee and cake, 2 of us were tempted by the baked cheesecake when I required what flavour it was, the waitress said "I wouldn't have clue" she then turned to another staff member who told her it was lemon they thought! We should have seen the warning signs at that point but carried on to order two slices. After eating a forkful I noticed some green flecks under the icing sugar that was sprinkled on top as I scraped the icing sugar I was horrified to find mould growing on the top. I visited here with my partner and a friend for breakfast recently, we all ordered the Big Breakfast which was $24 each. This was a reasonable quality and serving size and I wouldn't complain about it, but the prices are ridiculous. They charge $8.50 for a glass of 'fresh' orange juice that pretty obviously came out of a bottle. $5.50 for a cup of tea that is literally just a tea bag in a teapot with hot water. Our empty plates and coffees were left in front of us for a good 30 minutes (still there when we left), even when our friend had ordered another cup of tea and the waitress struggled to fit it on the table she did not remove any plates. We were 'walk ins' after a lovely day wandering the beach. We chose the 'surf and turf special and boy was it special, but NOT in a good way. The cafe owner made the cast of Wentworth look like **** cats and was not very welcoming. The food arrived and our surf consisted of one prawn and two calamari rings on both steaks. the steak was rump. my steak was inedible, was all gristle and was pushed aside. My partner persevered and may have been able to eat a quarter of his. I wont be going there again, really sad as Hillarys is a lovely place, not a good endorsement for visitors

Partner and I came here for lunch with our son. I ordered the Caesar salad with chicken and my partner ordered the reef and beef which came with a rump steak cooked to our liking and a creamy garlic sauce. We got our son a salted caramel slice from the window. All in all the meals were okay. Nothing too fancy or over the top but nothing bad worth mentioning apart from the price. We were satisfied with the venue as it sits in such a nice location of Hillarys Boat Harbour. Good for a nice coffee and cake or good for a cold fresh drink while you admire the scenery.
I've eaten this afternoon. I had a Portuguese chicken wrap and my friend had a grilled chickenburger. I was disappointed with my packaging. the musalate was more tasteful than the pack. I wanted to spice more and heat more because I think that when someone says Portuguese huh. my friend was very happy with his burger. well made a little to get out, but the drink service was fast. my coffee was okay. all the meals were a bit expensive for what you believe me. chips on the side of their burger? that's an extra.
After seeing the menu online and finding two different versions we decided to go along anyways because the price was great while still included a hot drink. When we arrived we found a third menu and unfortunately no hot drink included. We paid $42.50 for what would have cost $31.90 on the old menu including an orange juice, ours didn't include that. The scrambled eggs were fine, a little cold and too much pepper but the omelette was good. Don't think I'd be back.
Below average food. Service was ok. Won't be going back. They had run out of gluten free bread so replaced with potato, when they bought it out they said the benedict also didn't have the hollandaise sauce as it had gluten? Had I known that before I wouldn't have ordered it. Ham with over cooked poached eggs and potato for over $20.

The place looks reasonably nice but I was not a fan of the food as much as I wished I was. There is a standard menu but the food quality wasn't as good as you would expect it to be which was a shame
ordered seafood plate for fish and chips usually with some from the package smoked salmon and a few other things. could not stop and starve to find something different to take away the oily taste.
