Stayed at excellent Best Western by the river. Great views, and the seating / setting is good in or out. We were made welcome and served straight away, although we arrived well past 8pm, and finished late at night. There was no suggestion of pressure to leave. The service was absolutely fine, but you clearly need to relax and enjoy the good humoured "banter". Owner is a character, loves (and plays) great jazz, his son is the cook and all the clientele that night were local French (which speaks volumes). We used our strangled "Franglais" to great effect, and found the service personal and good, if a little erratic, with English spoken, and friendly response. we were staying at a hotel just down the road and found this as the first restaurant / bistro / cafe that looked OK. It is a very stereotypical French bar / restaurant - an acceptable selection of food, served quickly (I suspect microwaved, not freshly prepared) and in a friendly manner. The owner / barman had, I am sure been sampling the drinks! Probably the cider, which is very good. My wife said her turkey escalope seemed a little overcooked and tough, but my Scallops were perfect. Not expensive and on that basis, good value. Just don;t expect Cordon Bleu food and silver service.

Not sure what all the complaining was about. The hostess was friendly, helpful and efficient while not being anything but accommodating. We simply had savoury galette and salad for lunch, but both were quick, well prepared and tasty given the simplicity of preparation. Not fine dining, but that was not what it pretended to be.

A typical French restaurant in the lovely town of Ducey. Sometimes a job to find it open at times and often smelling of cigarette smoke as the owner has been known to smoke in the bar if not just outside the door. This said the food is very good.
