"Both my wife & I LOVE the donuts there --- they are made right before your eyes. The apple cider is good, & they have a SUPER variety of hot sauces for sale, as well…The place is quite historic, too, & worth exploring around whilst there. It appears to have been essentially unchanged lo these many years."

Friends and family visited Tyrone Mills as we heard wonderful things about the shop. The children delighted in visiting the wood shop upstairs and seeing the old fashioned tools, which were smartly labeled. Outside on the terrace is a view of the pond. We saw a crane! There are old Muskoka chairs to sit in and enjoy the view. The shop sells a variety of flours, corn meal, vegan and gluten-free products, has ice cream in cones for those hot days and bakery items. Pies, donuts, apple fritters and large cookies are for sale. Hot sauces and BBQ rubs are in the shop too. The patio is unique out front and a great place to enjoy your purchased treat. Looks like a fun spot to pick up Christmas gifts...

The Tyrone Mill is a working water-powered mill producing stone ground flours ( today buckwheat and red fife were available). this shop is open 7 days a week except for Christmas and New Years day ---so I was told. The line up for cider doughnuts and other baked goods was long but moved quickly. Parking can be an issue if the place is hoppingly busy as can be the case on fair-weathered weekends. The creamed honeys-lavender and cinnamon(not together) are very yummy indeed and produced locally---highly recommended to honey lovers!Oh did I mention that there is a working outdoor clay/stone oven?--- fresh bread was brought in while we were in line.

I arrived there on a Sunday, at 10:30 and was somewhat disappointed that it didn't open until 11 AM. Nevertheless, I decided to wait. When I finally entered, I was somewhat disheartened that it was basically, just a shop with homemade products; no explanation on the mill's history, though there was a small exhibit of objects at the back of the building, and on the second floor. Now, I must admit the two who opened the mill were probably students; nevertheless, they seemed a little unprofessional. However, the cookies I bought were good.Maybe, it was just because it was Sunday;...

We made the 45-minute drive out to Tyrone Mills specifically because we enjoyed the butter tarts and donuts the last time we were there. And we weren't disappointed. Had our son with us, who bought one of the spicier hot sauces the store had. I'm glad I won't be around to see it taste-tested! We'll be back.
