The new owner has implemented several changes, none of which I consider positive. They've removed the daily specials, the food quality has declined, and the personal service has vanished. Previously, you could place your order directly with the staff member attending to you, but that's no longer an option. The personal service was a major draw for this place. I used to recommend the Manhasset Deli, but I won't be doing so anymore.
This was my first visit, and I enjoyed the pizza and the friendly staff! However, I was a bit disheartened by the burnt black floor. Being pregnant, I had an intense craving for pizza and went ahead and ate it despite the surroundings, but I was hoping for a better experience. The smoky flavor was quite disappointing, although the pizza itself was decent overall.
I am a native of New York State and came here for heart surgery. Decided to order from Umberto's because it has a well-known reputation from Long Island. I ordered lasagna, Caesar salad, cannoli, and tiramisu. To my surprise, the lasagna tasted extremely salty, as if I had just eaten pure salt. I thought to myself, "Wait a minute, I just spent $52!"
This deli has been serving the best Ham, Egg, and Cheese sandwich for as long as I can remember. It was cooked to perfection, the ham was flavorful, and the roll added a satisfying crunch. Definitely worth the $7 and change. We ordered in advance, and the sandwiches were fresh and ready when we arrived! Book a table now
I wish I had taken more photos, but I was too busy enjoying the food! I'd definitely go back for their monthly family-style tasting event, so be sure to bring your friends!
