I drove to unico a million times, but I never took the time to go in or look up them, as they are always drawn blindly. on a Friday night I decided that my wife and I go and try out unico as we needed a change from the restaurants on hartsdale ave. we go in and were asked if we had a reservation (we didn't) but at the bar a place was offered. the place was fully booked and there were literally four people who served in the evening. the host also acted as server and barkeeper and she made an amazing job and was extremely efficient. my wife tried her pineapple margarita and called her the best margarita she had and announced she could drink ten of them. we started with the muscles and oktopus...
Unico provided a truly unique dining experience. Everything—from the concept and design to the menu and the cooking—reflects the vision and dedication of the owner, Brian Sernatinger. Until yesterday, I hadn't realized just how much that commitment permeates the experience. Initially, it seemed limited to the front area, but the outdoor lunches are equally delightful, featuring incredibly delicious dishes. The staff is hardworking, friendly, and attentive. The drinks were served promptly, and highlights included the fenders and the exceptional cochinita pibil, which is a must-try dish. Everything we had was remarkable. Oh, and don’t forget to save room for dessert!
The food was lackluster. Fried zucchini had little to no zucchini in it. Shrimp tasted like it had been previously frozen, was rubbery and overcooked, and had a plastic aftertaste that wouldn’t leave my mouth after many hours. “Fresh” bread tasted stale and was very hard and cold. Food itself was lukewarm. Had the miso salad and could only taste the dressing. Below average food, was expecting exceptional. Severely disappointed. Restaurant itself was freezing inside despite the many portable space heaters running.
Wow. The chef loves what he does and it shows. A menu made for foodies with expertly and thoughtfully prepared Mediterranean dishes. Ingredients and preparation styles are high end dining quality but the prices are very reasonable. Funky decor and the location (on a busy corner of Central Ave) disguises the great meal you will have if you give it a try. Lovely though short wine list and gracious service from the husband and wife team. Had a really nice chat with the chef over desert. Highly recommend.

We visited this restaurant the day after Valentine's Day, so it was quite peaceful. We really loved the atmosphere, but more importantly, the food was fantastic. I could easily eat a dozen of those octopus empanadas. My wild boar ragu was excellent, and my wife's steak frits were cooked to perfection. The drinks were also impressive. We are looking forward to enjoying this neighborhood gem again very soon!
This place cannot be described in words. You just have to eat here to experience what they offer: the finest culinary delights with an Greek/Italian flair. My server Daya was so helpful and friendly that I look forward to coming back again (and again)!
One of the best restaurants in Westchester! The cocktails, appetizers, main dishes, and desserts are fantastic. You should definitely try The Inn at Pound Ridge too, but Unico is the perfect casual spot with first-class food.
Chef Brian and wife Daya make this restaurant an absolute delight!. We truly love this restaurant and love Brian's innovative uniquely created dishes.Looking forward to returning soon.
