We had dinner in the restaurant only. The dining room has lovely view of the Ottawa River. The dining area has been redecorated and the 1970s wood tables and captains chairs have been replaced by a more modern asthetic. The floors too have been redone and look lovely, though they still slant endearingly in places. Hubby and I had the fish and chips. They herb the batter and the flavour is really nice. Not all of hubby's chips were freshly made though, some had that twice deep-fried texture (extra hard). I had caesar salad with mine and it was quite good. Kiddo had the burger and they were able to modify it for their gluten free needs by providing lettuce wrap, which was greatly appreciated....
I had a delicious homemade chicken pancake and was so full that I couldn't sample the freshly baked cakes for dessert. The restaurant offers a fantastic view. As a guest of Valois, you have complete access to the docks and beach. While the rooms are a bit outdated, they are clean and very budget-friendly. We were thrilled to find this place, especially since we snagged one of the last available rooms; it’s a place we wouldn’t have tried otherwise!
Can we give 6 stars? The most beautiful location and a wonderful team. We stopped here during our drive across country so we didn’t have a reservation. The rate was super reasonable $115), room was clean and there was a great restaurant on site. There’s also a dock for guests, patio chairs and picnic benches. That’s not the best part though the team that works there is so friendly!! Highly recommend!!
The last 2 meals I had eaten here were great and also the service. The fish stands itself and does not need tartaric acid sauce, the dough is so delicious. A small lemon and perfection. Large Greek salad option and poutine is also good. Also their deep-fried cheese curds as an appetizer and they were also delicious. I stopped by this restaurant and enjoyed a fantastic meal, especially the fish and chips. I was truly impressed by the quality and flavor of the food, and the prices were very reasonable. The view from the terrace is unbeatable, making it an unforgettable experience for me. It's a must-visit if you're in the north! I would rate it 10/10. Oh, and the staff was excellent!
Harvey was exceptionally courteous and friendly. He drove out to us late on a Friday night to ensure we could check into our room. The motel has a charming, albeit outdated, vibe that adds to its character. It's located right on the Ottawa River, giving guests access to the beautiful docks. Additionally, our room was very clean.
Over the long weekend, my girlfriend and I decided to do a nice little getaway. The hotel was beautiful and had a very homey vibe to it. The view was immaculate and the food was great. Definitely a nice little quiet and quaint place for a getaway from the city. Will 100% be back
I’ve stayed here a few times. I really like this place because it’s situated on the river. It has great views, friendly staff and easy to get to. Although that place is older and not up-to-date, it’s a decent place to stay and eat. The prices of the rooms are good. Book a table now
Had a great winter sledding trip this week in Mattawa, rooms are clean and comfortable, restaurant food is excellent with super service and super friendly! Trail is right across the road!
