I ordered the kadai paneer curry today, but what I received was paneer in a gravy made with tomato ketchup, with not a single vegetable in sight. The dish was heavily doused in oil and food coloring, leaving my fingers stained red. Overall, it was a very disappointing food experience. I got takeout for dinner, and the price per person was $20-$40. I would rate the food a 1 out of 5.
Our family often eats at Vandana's, whose Indian cuisine is fantastic, fresh and authentic Indian flavours. Their rogan josh and vindaloo curries are excellent and their flaky naan is a definite go to. Their staff and owners are friendly and happy. The butter chicken has so much sugar that it tastes like a dessert dish. Also wondering why it's such a bright orange colour as if it has food colouring added to it. Doesn't have that rich creamy texture. The lamb Rogan josh tasted a bit bland, not that hot of spices you'd expect. The tandoori chicken however was good. Service: Take out Meal type: Dinner
I order Yellow Dal for takeaway and was very disappointed . I specifically ordered Dal to be mild as it was meant for my kids. But Dal had so much Garam masala that not just kids, even i could barely eat. I was hoping to get a relaxing evening by not having to cook but it was a total waste. Not likely to return. Friendly simple Indian restaurant in East Bentleigh great place for a quiet meal after a session in nearby GESAC. Onion Bhaji starter is excellent (seperate battered onion strands rather than a "cake as is the Lamb Vindaloo and Naan portions are pretty large...(Chicken Tikka for e.g. is definitely for two and food is of excellent quality
I waited 30 minutes for a basic takeout order of 2 samosas and 4 naan breads, only to receive the driest and crumbliest naan bread I've ever had.
