We've always enjoyed eating at Varsity Lakes Tavern, but last night's experience will probably see us not going back. My daughter ordered lasagne and chips - the chips were practically incinerated and the lasagne had obviously been divided up into separate servings and then reheated. It was dry, virtually meatless and the edges were hard nearly impossible to cut through. My son said the burger he ordered was probably the worst one he'd had in a long time - and he's not hard to please. I ordered macadamia barramundi which was more breadcrumbs than macadamias and looked like it had been thrown on the plate from a distance. No love there whatsoever. We were heading to the Art Centre to see a show and needed dinner first. We'd never been to the Tavern before but it was on the way with plenty of parking. We were super surprised to see the extensive menu and couldn't decide what to eat. The snitzels were awesome, the salmon was lovely, the pesto linguine was yummy and the mango chicken very tasty. The sweet potato chips were a beautiful side dish. Our meals were served quickly and piping hot. Great value and decent meal sizes. A hidden gem.
We had a great lunch with some family members at a local tavern to where they live. We were greeted quickly and with a smile, advised of specials and recommendations and seated quickly.Service at the bar and ordering the food was good with a quick turn around for the daily lunch specials.
Food is good and portions are huge and everything is fairly cheap! Great for post work drinks and watching a game! Place could do with a re-vamp - it had great potential!

Always freezing in there - aircon way to high!! Makes a meal out not very enjoyable. Food is ok, but place does need a re-vamp. Good basic pub.
Great Food and venue. We celebrated my Husbands 60th here and everything ran perfectly. Catering for 60 is not an easy task but no complaints.

Steak was good but over priced. Could go to surf club and do better. Fries were disappointing and the salad was an afterthought.
Great for family lunch always a good meal in a nice invirement, one of our favourite venues. Reasonably priced as well.
