Was recommended this place by a tour guide for local cuisine. On approach the place is not much to look at which didn't bother us. The menu sounded quite good so went in. There was a table with a family at it and a lone man dining when we arrived. The women who served us didnt really seem to want us there and didnt say much. At first we thought it was just the language barrier as unfortunately we don't really know much Portuguese. We ordered a sausage and cheese plate to start and mixed grill for two. The sausage and cheese arrived and we tried not to laugh. It was a couple of old and hard chopped up bits of cheese and a couple of chunks of fatty sausage chucked at the plate. Now i know its...
We took a table for our family and wait. After we arrived two more tables arrived and they got the attention order first. I went inside and said that we arrived first so our order should be first. Then the owner started to talk on a very rude way saying that we had to wait and we will be the last order. We've tried this restaurant before. The food is good but this guy is very impolite. Typical businessman from the 70s that think can do whatever he wants... jus sad... After that we just left without having our dinner....
Velha Casa wad a lovely surprise and we had one of our best meals in Faro . We both had a simple vegetable soup which had fresh vegetables followed by lamb cutlets and cod main courses. The cob was a very large fillet with lots of fresh vegetables and potatoes. The lamb has rice and chips. The lamb was grilled and seasoned perfectly. Overall a nice atmosphere and good food a perfect recipe.
Superb local eatery. Nothing pretentious, well cooked food with bags of flavour. Charcuterie and cheese starter. Mains 1 of chicken 1 of black pork fillet both served with fries and rice, large salad. Sparkling water and 1 litre of house red, all for the incredible price of 35 Euros. Un restaurant de quartier typique et à ne pas manquer. Demandez surtout les poissons du jour parfaitement cuisinés et absolument succulents. Verre de vin généreux. Excellent rapport qualité-prix.
Simple no thrills food. My partner and I had an omelette and chips. We were very impressed the other older waitress knew to give me the omelette without cheese.
This restaurant is indeed at Rua do Pe da Cruz 33, but at post code 8000-423 NOT 8005-469. This very nearly caught me out.
Bad vibe. Grumpy owner, rude staff. Went there several times but this last one was so bad we just got up and left. Book a table now
