Seriously, I enjoy everything about this restaurant except the food. It has a lovely, light space and the tables are arranged in a way that a quiet conversation can be quite private. The staff are wonderful. The food, however is a let-down. I dined there durng lunch three times before Christmas 2016 over a five week period. The menu was pretty static (same limited menu offered on each of the three occasions). The first lunch wasn't too bad but the last two were awful. This was because the food was way over-salted. The second time the lettuce in the salad was so salty as to render it inedible. All the food was far too salty. And I am not a "no salt freak". The third time I had hoped to shore...

the new restaurant renovations in verandah to rent while I spy the bar next door is also very close to the end. the free sourdough bread from sunoma bakery is a delicious start. oyster of course with mignonette dressing I am told are fucked to order with a remarkable sole. oyster kilpatrick is good for those who are not natural. very tasty with seemingly a house smoked speck, which is neatly presented and packed up with a hauch of tabasco in the mix for a pleasant chili-kick along with other **** mary style aromas. I'm sure I'll order that again.
Weird bar wedged underground near a train station. Surly staff dish up greasy food and the usual overpriced CBD drinks. Delightful poker machines too and hypermasculine bouncers to ruin your night. Not sure what there is to recommend this place - certainly not the food or the ambience. If you're after a beer quickly this might work for you but there's really little incentive to linger. This really is a sad city full of uninspired people and the staff here are no exception. I would encourage you to avoid this pub.
I've been coming to Verandah for years as it is conveniently situated close to my former work and my current workplace. It's a great place to catch up with friends. The setting is casual and very busy so make sure you book a table or come early to snatch a seat. The menu is constantly changing but they have weekly specials which is great for those conscious of money. Lately the menu hasn't been up to scratch but the steak and chicken schnitzels are always the best! Book a table now
Business lunch today. Menu looks good. Initial service positive but the oven baked fish was not cooked through at all. About half the fish was still frozen. What was just as upsetting was the reaction: "Oops, Sorry" "Chef told" . The bill was then presented with the full cost of the inedible fish included, despite half of it being sent back never to be seen again. At least they could have removed that plate from the large bill.
There's a different reason to come into this place for lunch. You've got $13 Rumps on a Monday, $12 Chicken Schnitzel on a Tuesday. In both cases - the deal breaker for me is the control over how much gravy i can whack on to my plate and whether I want it anywhere near my chips. They leave it all to you with the huge barrel full of it next to the cutlery!!! Would you like a side of steak with your gravy?
This was a fantastic find on a rainy Tuesday 3 days before Christmas. Food is good quality, well priced pub food. The location seems to attract a lot of people escaping the office for an hour and two so can get pretty busy. The atmosphere is noisy but nice. Drinks are well priced and share seating at large bar tables means you can't help but make new friends.
Meh! the main thing that this place has is that it has a beautiful indoor/outside balcony that allows a group with some smokers and some non-smoking easy to interminate without the smokers being expelled and having to be withdrawn down and huddle on the road short. drinks and bar food in the evening are nothing remarkable, but nothing bad to note Book a table now
We came here for Friday lunch and had a most enjoyable time. It is lovely and brightly lit with sunshine towards the open area near the bar. The food service was quick which is helpful when you only have an hour. Our meals were tasty and filling.
