Despite our long history of bringing them business, a mishandled situation by an unqualified security guard ruined our evening. What began as racial discrimination escalated quickly; the guard physically confronted some of the female guests and even made threats, claiming he would call his gang to fight our party. To make matters worse, he displayed his gun without justification and threatened attendees with it.

I really liked the layout of this restaurant. It has a small outdoor dining area by the front entrance, a main dining room to the right with a bar and small stage for a band. Continue down the hallway and the kitchen and buffet service area is to the right and a small dining room on the left. Straight ahead is separate dining room perfectly setup for a private banquet room. Villa Catrina restaurant ambiance is always cool, has relaxed atmosphere and always clean every time I come in. Their food is always on point with flavor and taste. The food has perfect temperature, too. Chips and salsa comes out right away with your drink order. My favorite here is the La Doña steak tostada salad. Steak pieces are tender and perfect amount. My first visit to Villa Catrina was fantastic, so I was excited to return for dinner. I ordered the same dishes this time—a barbacoa plate and a taco/chile relleno combo—but the experience was just alright. I can't quite put my finger on it, but the rice wasn't as fluffy or plentiful, the beans felt a bit dry, and my taco was overcooked. The presentation of the food didn’t look as appealing, and it didn’t taste freshly prepared. I noticed the same issue with the barbacoa plate. Haven't been back to Villa Cantina in a minute so when the BF wanted a burrito, I was not opposed. We got their Taquito Trio, Catrina Fries, Villa Burrito with el Pastor, and Fajita Quesadilla with beef. We got our meal to go. They packed everything nicely. They even gave out freshly made chips and salsa with our meal. The portions are huge and everything tasted great...especially my Fajita Quesadilla with big chunks of steak. Next time, we should definitely eat there and enjoy everything even more.
Sometimes you just want a nice place with good food to watch a soccer (football) game and the Dodgers. If you're anywhere near Arcadia, Villa Catrina is one of those places. Service is excellent, tables are well positioned and comfortable, and the food portions are huge. We had a great time hanging out with friends there and enjoyed the meal. The dishes could be seasoned better and the chips salsa were too thin for my taste but overall it's a great spot. I will be back when that bell rings again!

3.5. Came here with some friends. The ambiance was cute. Service was okay. It was definitely more of a if you need something ask. Wasn't proactive. Food portions are pretty decent for the price you pay! Chicken nachos are good. Could have to used some more chips
