The restaurant business in Westport CT is brutally competitive. The majority of the population does not eat out regularly as it does in NYC. Everyone who does eat out, does so within a very narrow period of time. A restaurant is either 'hot', full of both diners and take out orders, or not. Unfortunately neither of the two Wafu restaurants in Westport are hot. The consequences are evidenced by what happened to me at lunch Friday, When I ordered the Bulgogi BBQ, a set of round bansang were placed around the round cooker in the toble. Bansang is a collective name for small side dishes served along with cooked rice. Due to lack of diners, I had to send back of the because they were spoiled from...

I frequent an optical store near this location. I have always noticed the Southport location but was unaware of the differences. The Westport location specializes in Korean BBQ, while Southport focuses more on noodle dishes. I found this hidden gem intriguing. I decided to stop by for lunch one afternoon and was pleasantly surprised. Having had Korean BBQ in NYC before, I must say this is very comparable. The side dishes were all delicious and never-ending. The service was exceptionally friendly and attentive during the busy lunch hour. We ordered the bulgogi and pork belly, which was a fantastic combination. I enjoyed sitting at our tabletop grill with minimal exhaust fumes as our food cook...
The only place in town that offers Korean BBQ, this restaurant is worth a try but don't expect it to be exactly like what you would find in a city. This is not a place where you cook all the meat at your table or where they change the grill plate frequently; instead, it offers a mix of Korean-style BBQ with regular restaurant service. The meat selection is decent, with thicker cuts that take longer to cook. The simple side dishes are very good. The waitstaff may spend more time at your table due to the thickness of the meat. However, I was disappointed when we ordered pork belly to grill at our table and it was cooked in the kitchen instead, with an additional charge of $25-30 on top of the...
I recommend Wafu if you're not a stickler about authenticity and you and your dinner party want to eat quasiKorean style. Food is good there is some panAsian variety on the menu and everyone is wellprepared. You won't find the really traditional beanpastebased Korean dishes or sauces though. Maybe I'm spoiled because I grew up around this sort of food and around pretty authentic Korean BBQ restaurants where you left dinner smelling like what you ate... Overall, though, it was a good place; my inlaws enjoyed it even more than I did Book a table now
Overall the food is very good. A few things that would be helpful. 1) more explanation about the experience and what to expect. 2) I had to ask for a drink 3 times before getting it 3) they gave me the Marinated meat when I didn’t ask for it. 4) the meat was cooked one at a time and served to both of us vs me having one and my guest having the other so he filled up on mine and then didn’t eat much of his. 5) we said medium rare and it was more well done. But overall very tasty and they are very nice
this place was found by the walk in the opposite. I did it! everything in her menu is very good. their appetizers are different and somewhat groundless. they are “free”. the price of eating is not bad. good every penny worth. her service is exceptional. this was our 3rd time in 2 months and they already recognized us and even remember where we sat and some of the things we liked! we are going back definitiw as this is our goal to go to the place
I visited Wafu BBQ to celebrate a birthday and tried the beef dish, which was delicious. The service was friendly and made me feel right at home. I will definitely return in the future.
Overall a great restaurant. The only issue for us was that there was live music and it was a little too loud for a work conversation. But would likely be good for those looking for that Book a table now
simon was a great host. we are here twice and every time it is better to drink from service to eating all amazing 10/10 would recommend to everyone.
