we ate in juli 2011 in the weindlhof. we found the place by chance as we search for a restaurant for lunch. we just followed a few signs in the village of mauthausen and we were not disappointed by our choice. what a beautiful place that is! we had lunch on the terrace with a view of the Danube River. the cook only works with fresh, local products, simple and beautifully cooked to maintain their inner quality. the lamb was absolutely delicious and so delicate. the dessert was brilliant and it was worth waiting! (see picture). we were very impressed by the excellent value for money of this amazing, gastronomic restaurants. we strongly recommend it.
Tolle Küche mit sehr inspirierten Gerichten und regionalen Zutaten aus sehr erfahrenen Händen wie man schmeckt. Preise sind dem gebotenen Niveau durchaus angemessen. Dieses Gaumenverwöhnprogramm sollte man sich unbedingt 'mal gönnen. Schöne Aussicht auf die Donau von der Terrasse bei Schönwetter und dem Wintergarten (auch bei schlechterem Wetter). Sehr freundlicher, flotter Service. Wir kommen gerne wieder.
we went there when we spent the night in mauthausen, and it turned out to be a great restaurant. while the most important courses were traditional Austrian dishes, well played, but perhaps a little boring, the appetizer (pumpkin suppe, free from the chef) and the...dessert (poppy saat and plum cake) were almost as sophisticated and delicious as in a Michelin star restaurant.
surprisingly creative cuisine and very beautiful atmosphere and look at the donau and the many ships. terrace is recommended if weather allowed
