I visit Andernach frequently for business and I go out of my way to visit this restaurant. I have eaten here dozens of times and I can honestly say I have NEVER had a bad meal. I bring guests here and they all love the food. Some say the potato soup is the best they ever had. Others say the pork medallions are the juiciest pork pieces they have ever eaten. My son is a picky eater and he loves the food here as well. I have a hard time finding chicken while in Andernach and they are very accomodating (substituting chicken in other dishes or preparing something special for me). The Middle Rhine Valley is the romantic part of one of Europe's big rivers. It is here between steep hills that the river develops its dramatic quality (Loreley, medieval castles and more). Although this is a prime destination of tourism there are not some many places where you can find decent food in a nice environment. The Merowingerhof is definitely one of them.You find this small restaurant in a townhouse a couple of meters from the river banks and the historical landmarks. a truly rustic and dreamy ambiente awaits you not only in the courtyard but also in the restaurant itself. they see the history of the house. really nice. the services (solveig and theresa) were totally sweet and very flotted. thanks again for the wee recommendation. it was also faster than we know from other restaurants on Saturday night. my black medaillons in pot were really delicious. all in all, the merowingerhof is a really great restaurant that I recommend and definitely want to visit again.
