We chanced on this great locals bar as we were bimbling around the less touristic areas of Cologne and what a great little find. This is a cool bar ,a really nice neat and tidy interior with great decor and furnishings and plenty of seating...options spread throughout this bar,there's TV screens to enjoy the sport and the Gaffel Kölsch served here is delicious. My twin brother Stephen and I were here on a Wednesday evening,we got a seat were a very pleasant member of staff deposited two glasses of Gaffel Kölsch on our table,we just kicked back and chilled out and took in the wonderful bar we were in. Wenn man über eine kleine Stufe das "Weißer Holunder" betritt, befindet man sich unvermittelt im Jahre 1955. Die leicht vergilbten Schwarz-Weiß-Fotos an den Wänden zeugen von einer Zeit als die Mädchen noch Zöpfe und Schürzen trugen, die Jungs Lederhosenträger und die Erwachsenen Overstolz, Juno und Eckstein rauchten. Irgendwie ist das Rad der Zeit hier stehengeblieben. Die Damen hinter dem Tresen sindf allerdings taufrisch, nett und aufmerksam und informieren uns noch über ein paar Besonderheiten, die diese Kneipe zu bieten hat.Trotz Besitzerwechsel im Novenber 2013 bleibt alles beim Alten. This establishment was recommended by a friend. We stopped by for a beer and something to eat. The menu is very short on eats only 5 or 6 items. One they didn't have that evening. We had warm brats and a cold one (both were very good). The beer, wine and alcohol menu is large! I recommend this place for having a few drinks and brats.
great place with a great, cozy atmosphere and very nice people. the diverse events deserve a special note. Skat night, small concerts, quiz night, in the evening they sing it. and in addition, the beer is great, especially the Wurzburger served in stone cups cold until the last zip! Very unique bar. Music and all furniture is from, not sure exactly, but wild guess is from 60's or 70's. Not a wide variety of beer's but definetely kölsch and some others. Very clean toilets too. Very relaxed atmosphere which is just what needed after long day walking around köln.
Such a weird experience. Obviously a bar closes eventually, but I've never had a barkeep serve us drinks and tell us five minutes later to finish up our drinks.... like what??? It was really strange. It's called a last call. What a waste of time.
