We all had a great dining experience at The Wheatsheaf. The wild mushroom and chicken satay starters were delicious, as well as the gnocchi main dish. The chicken pie (a special) was also tasty, although some found the beef gravy that came with it to be too salty and not the best pairing with chicken. The service was efficient and friendly, and the atmosphere was nice, although a bit noisy when busy. Overall, we had a very enjoyable meal.
We have been frequenting this pub for several years and have always appreciated the ambiance, food, and drinks. However, we were disappointed during our visit today (despite the freezing temperatures outside) to find that the interior of the pub was cold. Even though it was quite full, the fire was not lit and the radiators were not providing any warmth. Visiting a pub in the winter should be a cozy and inviting experience.
We have visited this restaurant several times in the past year, and the food has always been consistently good. During our most recent visit, my wife ordered the hake special and I had the liver and bacon, both of which were delicious. The service was friendly, although we did have to request water three times.
10/10 for a superb lunch, Gabby our waitress was fantastic and was the best waitress we have had for a long time. Would visit again, just for Gabby. Book a table now
