Nice counter staff. Friendly and hard working. The fish was nice but the chips were white, limp and very greasy. I was about to throw them away when I got home but my husband had a brainwave and put them in the air fryer, they came out crispy and non greasy. The peas were too green and a mush rather than looking like mushy peas. I’m not certain but I don’t think the polystyrene is particularly non eco friendly but it makes my skin crawl and the grease was swimming in the bottom of the carton. They use palm oil which I do know is a major cause of deforestation. I’ve eaten here twice for lunch as it’s a few steps from the office. The chicken kebab salad was super tasty and then this week I had a small portion of chips and gravy. They were delicious! I’m quite fussy on chips and these were perfect. They were super fresh and made with quality potatoes. I didn’t have that sick feeling you can sometimes get with chip shop chips. Will definitely be trying out more food from this place.
Ordered medium chips no vinegar. They got covered in vinegar. So I asked for some chips with no vinegar. Rather than replace them they just put them back in the fryer. Not even an apology. And nearly two pound for the smallest portion you can imagine. Politely I took them, binned them, went someone else for a proper portion. Don’t go here.
Excellent service and delicious food. I always have fish and chips or curry chips and peas. It sports a decent selection of soft drinks too and you can sit in. What’s not to like? The only criticism I have is that the staff like to close on time but I like to camp out with an array of tasty flavours. Oh well, till next time

Just had some fish and chips around 6 pm Truly some of the worst we have had. Oil obviously not hot enough as the fish soggy and full of oil. Batter very poor and chips very similar. Frier could do with some training.
Love the fish and chips here, always fresh and gorgeous, but they never answer the phone and there’s no delivery service. Would always order from this chippy but they don’t deliver so thumbs down!
We have tried a number of chip shops in the area but have found Whittakers to be the Best.The fish chips are always fresh very tasty a good price.We would definitely recommend them.
This is one of the best fish and chip shop I've ever been to. The fish is quality, not too much batter, tasty and good value. The service is good too.

We ask for light batter fish us delicious always cooked fresh. Large portions and lot of choice if you are not so keen on fish .
No complaints here had a lovely portion of chips to share with my love very friendly very clean highly recommended
