Widowmaker Brewing

Widowmaker Brewing is a craft brewery that opened in Braintree, Massachusetts in September 2017. It was founded by business partners Ryan Lavery, Colin Foley and Bud Lazaro. Lavery and Foley met while playing in a men 's hockey league. Lavery worked in pharmaceutical sales while Foley worked in finance. They soon learned that they shared a passion for homebrewing. They practiced their hobby in Lavery 's basement and brewed everything from pale ales to stouts and porters. My cousin and I visited Widowmaker for drinks while we were touring good breweries in the Boston area. This place definitely did not disappoint! Though we were staying in Boston, we drove out to Braintree because of the recommendations from others. The night we visited, they had eight beers on tap, not a huge amount. They don 't do flights, only half pours. But I will say that their half pours are about 75% pours. Can 't be mad at that! The beers focused more on DIPAs and higher alcohol beers, if that is your style. There 's plenty of parking around and there is a lot of space inside for groups. This brewery gets better and better every year. Definitely one of the best on the South Shore. Their sours especially are fantastic. They're also very dog-friendly, which is always a good thing.

One of my favorite breweries in Massachusetts. I think they're the most well-rounded brewery in Massachusetts. Great spot to go to after hiking the Blue Hills.
