We have been dropping by Wimpy's no and again over the last couple of decades and it was getting a little worse for the ware. But recently we dropped by and wow. A complete rebuild from top to bottom. Same great diner food and around the table a lot of thumbs up. Breakfast Poutine - incredible. Fish and Chips, rival any Fish and Chip shop. 5 Star Breakfast proved to much for a hungry teenager and Soup was definitely home made at the restaurant. That got so many great reviews around the table, after my breakfast poutine I had a bowl. Wow. If your in Guelph this is back to our go to spot.
The kitchen service at this restaurant is impressive, as the food always arrives hot at the table. It's a fantastic spot to gather with a large group of friends in the morning after a night of partying. They are adept at handling big crowds and manage the restaurant efficiently whether it's empty or full. The owner, who runs the establishment, is incredible and very organized, with a great team of staff. The prices are extremely reasonable as well.
..we were sitting in the back, close to the hall that leads to the bathrooms and storage, and while we were there one of the workers from the kitchen went down the hall, and then the uncomfortably noticeable stench of pot appeared. He reappeared a few minutes later and went back to the kitchen. At that point we were just trying to finish our food quickly so we could get out of the stink zone. Not a pleasant experience.
This restaurant offers classic diner-style food at reasonable prices, with friendly service that overall provides a good dining experience. One major drawback is that they do not accept debit cards, but they do have an ATM next to the cash register for convenience. However, the ATM charges a service fee which may leave a negative impression. Book a table now
Wimpy's has been around long enough to have become a landmark. I often go for breakfast -- inexpensive and good. Sunday nights there are senior specials. And they have beer on tap. The service is friendly and prompt. Last time I was there was for dinner and it was good.
Average food at an average price. No Wow factor. Service is just OK. You wait a bit for your meal. Owner seemed an unhappy sort overheard him tell a staffer that when he says jump you say how hi. OKAY THEN Food was adequate in preparation and quantity.
Finally, a restaurant that knows how to make home fried potatoes! Just a delightful meal when I couldn't resist having the Southwest Egg's Benedict for dinner. Well done!
Friendly fast service. Been open in Guelph many years. The size of burgers is what sets them apart from all other burgers places. Huge 10oz oblong shape patties. Book a table now
