I've been going to the restaurant for two years now, having initially sought a replacement to the closed Matisse restaurant in Basel. I instantly fell in love with the Wirtshaus zur Säge. The atmosphere created by Corinne Zimmermann is perfect and the interior although a little old fashioned, is very welcoming and comfy. Specifically during winter one feels as if one was entering a living room. The service, mainly executed by Ms Zimmermann, is attentative and friendly. Recommendations on wines and the Food are always spot on, not to forget the fact that they do have one of my favourite champagnes on their menu (Ayala). Finally the food never dissapoints me. The highlight for me every time I...

A friend in Basel brought me to this nice restaurant in a small village about 30 minutes drive from the city centre. They said there is a tram leading to this place as well. It's a small family run restaurant. Chef Patrick took over this place a couple of years ago. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the lady owner. The dishes are well decorated and one really wouldn't want to destroy it. The ingredients are fresh and delicious. They also serve very good wine. It is relatively expensive but considering the atmosphere and food, I think it is well worth. I certainly will go again the next time I visit Basel!

A few months ago Chef Zimmermann (formerly 8 years at Stucki Restaurant) took over the Restaurant Säge in Flüh and today we finally had the opportunity to test it over lunch. Foe gras surrounded by thin asparagus slices (very good), Lobster on peas with gorgeous sauce (fantastic) followed by Sole on a very tasty spinach bed (very good again). Cheese selection was good not great, Desert (Soufflé of banana and passion fruit) was again very good. Fair wine prices, wine list could be a bit longer. Very charming and attentive service. Definitively a great addition to Basel's culinary experiences! Many thanks!

Decided to eat here to celebrate my husband's birthday and it was a real treat! The food tastes fantastic and is beautifully presented (as pretty as the pictures on their website). The service is also outstanding, they really make you feel welcome. We chose to have a different glass of wine with each dish, recommended by the waitress and her choices were superb. The selection of cheeses they offer is also outstanding. All in all a perfect birthday meal.
