Food is always of a good quality at Xian, it’s been a firm family favourite for over 20 years however yesterday New Years Eve I was left extremely disappointed by the service and non existent communication from the team. I placed my order at 6:15pm, confirmation was sent with a delivery time of 8:15pm. My order arrived at 10:10pm. Therefore my New Year’s Eve dinner ruined. I tried numerous times to reach Xian, the phone was constantly engaged. It’s clear they had far too many orders to fullfill. However 4 hours without any communication is unacceptable. When the delivery was made the driver knocked, left the food on my doorstep without a word of apology.
This was our first Chinese takeaway for a while and we decided on Xian which is well established. For the price we paid the food was a real disappointment. Noodles were awful. All we could taste was burnt oil. The egg fried rice was tasteless, chicken with cashews and yellow bean sauce again bland and dry and the shredded chilli beef was lacking in the right flavours of sweet and spicy. The seaweed and chicken satay was ok. All in all for the menu prices the standard is not consistent. We did not enjoy it at all and will not be ordering again.
Ordered take away food at 18:15. (unable to pre-order before 18:00) Restaurant called at 19:45 to say delayed for at least another 20 mins. Sadly, have to leave at 20:30 for a night shift on intensive care, looking after COVID patients. Disappointed and hungry start a night shift. Xian will kindly refund later but really not the point. Perhaps time to review their systems and how they operate. Will take response time into consideration for any future orders. Shame as food on previous orders has been good
We ordered a family meal delivery on Saturday evening during Chinese New Year. The order was extremely late due to problems in the kitchen which is unusual for this place. The following morning I received an email apologising and giving me a gift voucher for another meal. Not many restaurants would do that and I'm very impressed. The food standard is very high and the quality of ingredients always far superior to a lot of places.

Fantastic menu large selection of dishes for meat eaters and vegetarians alike; tasty and doesn’t feel oily or greasy like some others. Probably the best Chinese restaurant in the area for both dining in and takeaway. Pleased to see the supermarket there now too great selection of food! Always superb service and lovely people.
I have had a few takeaways from here. I am really happy with the quality of the food. I particularly love the authentic sechuanese dishes. The lamb with cumin is amazing, as are the smacked cucumbers. Great to have a chinese doing more authentic dishes alongside the usual favourites.
I only visited here to pick up a pack of prawn crackers with my home cooked meal but the staff were so kind and opened up just to help me out. I have been before and food is always excellent went when it was a sit down place. I hope they survive the lockdown and comeback strong.
Have had about 3 takeaway or delivered meals recently. Food very good and fresh however do take care. Last week I ordered sweet sour fish for a vegetarian friend and whilst eating he found two chunks of chicken in with the fish !!1 However will still be ordering again .

Superb family owned and run restaurant in Finchley , food was amazing best prawn toast ever , lovely service and Beer in frozen glasses what more could you ask for , will definitely be coming back
Waited an hour and a half for my order to arrive and then the restaurant cancelled the order ! Hopeless seems they can’t cope at all. Order elsewhere!
