Odd little place that we stumbled upon late one afternoon on the way to The Bodhi Tree bookshop. Service was really friendly. My short macchiato topped up was nice. My raw peanut slice / bar was sensational. My partner's gluten-free brownie was awesome. But what let this place down for us was that everything is served in takeaway containers with plastic takeaway cutlery. I thought at first that the cafe was closing for the day and they'd washed up all their proper cups and plates. But I soon realised that takeaways were the norm... and that's when I thought nope, couldn't do this on a regular basis. Disappointed with the amount of waste created by serving food and drink in take-away containers, cups, cutlery, bowls (etc) despite dining in. No table service either, despite the expanded seating in the new Leedy premises. It was a bit of a confusing visit.
Disappointing. Food is overpriced considering it is kept overnight and not fresh. Tacky furnishing. Better value and much better coffee at nearby cafes. Offering only takeaway cups comes across as cheap and with no regard for the environment.
This place really defines mediocrity. Surf vibe is tacky and outdated. Food tasted stale and bland, coffee was average and the wait was long. Also extremely overpriced. Ultimately, an underwhelming experience.
