We have been getting take away and occasionally dining at Ying Wah Chinese restaurant for seriously years. It's your typical local Chinese restaurant, which is a fab go to place when you don't want to cook at home and just want something easy, tasty and fairly quick. Great menu options, always happy to cater for vegetarians (e.g in our house we have both meat eaters and vego's, they will alter their dishes to leave out the meat for you on request). Reasonably priced and friendly.
It used to be a great place a number of years ago, but we would not go there again if you paid us. The Mongolian beef was off, we did not eat it, mentioned it to the owner/staff and were told that they sell lots of it, and we are definitely wrong. When I suggested a reduction of the bill, seeing we could not eat it, the lady that probably also runs the place was extremely rude, and said, "why should she'. We live a couple of blocks away, but would not recommend it.
Every thing is over priced for what you get. Shiny, fat riddled 'food'. I have known this restaurant for 40 yrs, it has been a lot better! Manly residents would not actually know what a nice, fresh! duck meal tasted like if trying it out at Ying Wah. Refrigerate your (any) Ying Wah take away for a night and see how much saturated fat you get solidified in the morning. Its quite astonishing and turned me off for good.
We came here for a quick dinner on the way home and actually really enjoyed it. Usually we eat at the 'trendy' Din Ta Fung & New Shanghai but we received really great service and food from Ying Wah. We ordered the san choi bow,braosed chicken chow mein noodles and sweet and sour pork. The sweet and sour pork was he best we've had, crispy battered moist pork with a soft sauce. Delicious! We would definetly recommend Book a table now
Have been coming here for years for quick and cheap local Chinese. Food is always tasty and fresh for a very cheap price. Staff are friendly and attentive, decor won't impress but to be honest it doesn't matter for the price. Takeaway/home delivery is also great, food always come quickly and is nice and hot.
This is a fabulous Chinese Restaurant in Balgowlah. I have been eating here sine 1976. There have been several owners during this period. Food has always been reasonably priced and delicious. Have also ordered take away on many occasions. You wont be disappointed.
When a Chinese restaurant can't get the fried rice right, there is something wrong. Hard rice, uncooked, literally no filling and looked like boiled rice. Horrible. Burnt chicken mixed with a watery satay sauce. And raw steamed dim sim. Never again.
I have been going to this place since 1978 and it is still cracking out the western version of Chinese. If you want a quick solo meal or a big family meal its not a problem. There takeaway is fast as well.You wont go wrong with this place. Book a table now

"Excesses freshly remaining oysters with a fantastic glass white while we watch the sun over the boats at the Spieß-Marina! I ask you ... On a Balmin summer evening in Sydney where would you prefer to be! Only 10 minutes booked before he arrived so happy to get the best table closest to the water! FULL HOUSE BTW. Baby snapper with olives, grapes and capers and black angus with caramelized onions and rocket salad. Tiramisu to exclude everything. Who cares when the service is a small "Fiji time". I am chilled and watched the sunset."
