The food at this restaurant is always good and nicely presented. We dined outside on a warm early summer evening, enjoying mussels that were not as spicy as described but still very tasty, and a spinach salad with fried oysters that was excellent. The pork chop and duck main courses were both well-prepared, with the chard and bacon accompaniment to the duck adding a nice touch. The cherry compote was a bit too strong for our liking. We tried the Bonarda red wine, which is typically aged in stainless steel and lacked the fruity taste we were expecting, so we switched to a reliable Malbec. Our family enjoyed the outdoor seating and the waiters did a great job of quickly pushing other tables in when it was raining out of the blue. We were under an umbrella and a big tree and didn't have to move and the rain stopped quickly. Our teenage kids weren't in many nice restaurants and they loved the creative starters, especially the homemade croutons on the Caesar salad, delicious! We all had very good meals and were too full for dessert, which is unfortunate because I have eaten the chocolate bread pudding with baileys before and it is divine! There are so many tasty options and we enjoyed the scallops as well as the duck, key lime chicken and the flank. You can't go wrong!
It had been a few years since we were in Zocalo, but it was as good as we remembered it to be. There were still some favorites on the menu, but also some new dishes, and they didn't disappoint. This is the only menu among many in Charlottesville that is really different and exciting. I had the duck breast cooked perfectly and accompanied by a great sauce, braised chard and an onion manchego bread pudding, and my wife loved her salmon. My starter, the tuna tartar, was too heavenly and had a healthy kick. Highly recommended!
Zocalo was recommended to us by a family member and we were not disappointed. The food and drinks were amazing. Everything was fresh and had a wide range of visual and palate attractions. Each of us chose a different entre and we tried each other out. The WOWs went on around the table, from yellow tomato / cucumber gazpacho, meatballs, steak, softshell crab, scallops ... delicious, delicious, delicious! All dinners came with beautiful pages that were incredible. I will definitely come again.

The regular assorted sushi was delicious and beautifully presented, featuring a selection of nigiri with decent wasabi. The green tea ice cream topped with whipped cream was also enjoyable.
