This place was amazing. You normally need a reservation but Zach was so cool and squeezed me and my wife in right near closing time just because I asked nicely. I was NOT disappointed. Zach is an absolute artist. Best food I’ve ever had. The quaint environment of the restaurant might be a turn off for most fine dining lovers, but I enjoyed the charm of the place. Zach is a one man restaurant and he absolutely killed it. The food was well worth the wait and the cheese platter appetizer was amazing. THE DESSERT. Omg. It was INCREDIBLE. I got the venison main course, it was the best meat I’ve ever eaten and I’ve eaten at a few high scale steak houses in big cities before. Most fine dining I’ve...

Zach 's Bistro was a revelation. We were expecting a rather ordinary meal and received the most interesting and well-prepared meal that I have had in years. I say interesting in the sense that everything had something unexpected or a twist on the usual that was both wonderful and surprising. Best of all, everything was gluten free and safe for me to eat. The chestnut soup, clam chowder, fried market fish, potatoes, squash, and perfectly cooked broccolini were all terrific. Even the butter tasted more buttery than any we 've ever had. There seemed to be an excessive use of sprouts as garnish for my taste, but I 'm not a fan of sprouts in any form. The food was served at the right temperatures...

We have been here twice now and both times have been among the most memorable culinary experiences we have ever had. Both times, we opted for the 6 course chef's choice meal and both times we found ourselves exclaiming our love for each course and the paired wines. Zach provides a dining experience that is unmatched by any other location we have been to on the Oregon coast or the entirety of the state for that matter. Both times, we had to make special requests due to dietary needs and both times Zach deftly operated with these needs in mind, not skipping a beat, and providing courses you will find yourself talking and dreaming about long after the dinner is done. If you're looking for an in... Book a table now
I’d give zero stars if I could. I made reservations online for a table of 4, myself, my husband, and our two children. The chef had come around the corner and his first words were, “we don’t have a kids menu.” No hello or greeting whatsoever. The no kids menu would’ve been fine as we fed the kids before we came but before we could respond he says he can’t do the perfume or cologne one of us was wearing. Thing is I saw on the website about the sensitivity to smells so we purposely didn’t wear any! He was so rude I was half way out the door at that point. Sucks this celiac wasn’t able to try the best rated gf place in Newport on my birthday!
Zach is a one person operation in a nice former small Victorian home. He serves excellent locally sourced items that are fresh and tasty, but for me lacked a wow factor that should be there for the prices. Only wow factor was the desert which had a unique cheese ice cream with rich dark chocolate lava cake, fruit, and soft toffee. The wine flight was not apecial either, except for the Port at the end. All very nice, and the food was fresh and tasty, so worrh it for that. Nothing bad at all, just missing that special sauce or something.
Wow, just wow. Food was simply fantastic 4 of us tried most of the things on the menu and could find fault with none. Creative without being fussy and very reasonably priced. Also, everything was gluten free but you’d never know it. Make a reservation, limited seating and it’s just Zach doing the cooking and serving. So, not for someone in a rush. Can’t wait to come back.
Zero atmosphere, and very cold. Had to go get jacket out of the car. One employee that did it all. Ribeye steak over cooked, unseasoned and full of fat. The Brussel sprouts were burnt as was some type of purée starch. Service disorganized. Brought our pre-ordered selections (required) to different tables twice. Just a cold, sterile and unpleasant experience. Book a table now
Absolutely incredible food, all local and seasonal! One man operation, so don't expect a super quick turnover, but it's 100% worth your patience for the quality and variety. Plus, unmatched options for allergies and gluten-free folks. I'd happily go out of my way to come here again.
