I ate at Zeke a few years ago at a stay in the area during a movement and I was impressed by the friendly service, delicious food and large portions. I was back in town and I wanted to go back with my husband. Although the decor is a bit cheesy, it conveys the promising origin of Zeke. The story goes that Zeke was a prospect that cooked for teams of hungry miners and served large portions for hard working miners. I can't believe I slept on this place so long. Had a 0700 AM meeting cancel so I was in Ontario early. A former colleague recommended this place years ago and I never took his reco seriously. Silly move on my part. Simple, country style decor made me think I was in another state. Now the food. Two eggs medium, 2 sausages, 1/2 order hash browns and a biscuit with country gravy. Eggs done right, sausages were phenomenal for links, hash browns were crispy on the outside and well cooked on the inside, and those biscuits and gravy were plenty enough to enjoy and not too much to result in a nap. I love zekes! My old boss introduced me to this place about 15 years ago and I never forgot it. It's hard to forget those giant pancakes. I recently started going frequently with my wife who is also in love with it. The biscuits and gravy are top notch. She's a big fan of the French toast. My favorite plate is the country fried steak. The portions are massive and the price in very reasonable. This is as good as it gets when it comes to county breakfast. I highly recommend checking it out.
Great food, Maria the server was great and very attentive. They are always busy in mornings so keep that in mind. We paid about $40 for both us. Please be nice to the hostess and ppl working there. We over heard an older gentleman be rude over a simple mistake. He got another tables change. That's it! He had to call the gentleman over and ask him why? Why what? During my visit the restaurant was relatively empty, but this did not prevent the server from filling the place with its warm, hard-working, passionate energy to customers. I wish I caught her name because I will definitely be back and she would like to serve me again! I ordered my own Omelette with Hasch-Braun, Biscuits and Gravur and a coffee. Food came out so fast and was really soooo delicious, I ate too much.
This was my first time dining here. When you enter the restaurant, you're taken back to the old times with their wonderful wall memorabilia's and the well known portraits of John Wayne. A very comforting and inviting environment. Looked at their menu and everything looked and sounded delicious. I ordered the Denver Omelette and biscuits and gravy. I enjoyed my meal very much.
My husband has been telling me about this place since it is close to his job he has been but I haven't until today. And it was yummy! I got the chicken fried steak with hash browns with biscuits and gravy . So yum! Definitely going back oh and coffee was good too! Prices aren't too bad..$40 for 2 people.
Lots of food for the money. Fast friendly service. I ordered the 1 egg, 1/2 order of hash browns mini pancake which was almost as big as the plate! Could not finish it. Will be back!! Book a table now
