Our family of 10 dined here with reservation on a Sunday evening. We were place in an upstairs private room which accommodated us nicely but the we waited a long time before our orders were taken and for service after we ordered. We had to go downstairs at the end of the meal to get the check and then waited a long time to have the payment completed. The food was mixed from excellent (potato pancakes and apple sauce, wiener schnitzel) to fair (lamb was overcooked and tough). This is an historic restaurant and was a favorite or our family 50 years ago so we were eager to share it with our children and grandchildren on our heritage tour of the area. We went on a Tuesday to have the kalbsleber, which they have Tuesday, but alas, sold out already at 7. Tried the saumagen instead and was pleased. Saumagen for sure is a very local dish, but from Pfalz, not Hessen. In my mind, it doesn’t make it taste less good. The handkäse, however, IS local to Hessen, and very good. They don’t pay the same attention to wine. The wines are good, but not fantastic (as German wine for sure can be), so i suggest to go with beer. From the local brewery and very good

Zum Wasserweibchen is a local restaurant visited by both locals and tourists. The food is authentic and well prepared. It's my favorite in Bad H and I have not been disappointed yet. Only thing is the wine list...they don't serve serious wine. It's drinkable, but in a wine country like Germany and in this area I would like some more wine to choose from

We were eating in the middle of the asparagus season so we could also enjoy the terrace of the restaurant which is basically within the palace garden next to the cathedral. The food, the atmosphere, the staff is simply perfect and giving high society feeling. It is a unique restaurant which is a must in Bad Homburg.
