I first visited Idstein last fall at the suggestion of a co-worker and was disappointed when Zur Peif was closed. The pictures and reviews on Tripadvisor drew me to it and we did eventually get there a couple of weeks ago with some relatives who were visiting from the States. It was cool and rainy so when we went inside it was a welcome respite from the elements. Iris, the owner, took care of us and she was a lot of fun--she engaged us on the history of the house and restaurant, the local Hessian cuisine, and the Jazzfest in July among other things.
