Overall: 5 7 this place randomly has a lot of very classic Shanghainese dishes which are a fair attempt at the originals. The service is a bit suss though as one of the dishes we ordered (via app) was randomly cancelled and no one actually came up to tell us. Overall this place has good value and decent tasting food. You may be disappointed taste wise if you’re looking for shang food but they definitely look correct and are very nostalgic. Pan fried buns 生煎包: 5 7 They make these the right way up! This is the yeasted version with a “puffier” skin. Not my preference, but much better executed than most other places like ding tai fung or taste of shang. The filling is quite good and still has...

If it makes it easier, 257 Home Kitchen is on 257 Rowe st,Eastwood Follow where the lines to get in is usually a good indicator of a good restaurant but that thinking failed me once in Burwood This time I'm not sure ???? what to think of this theory At least we didn't feel cramp in here and the waiter keep coming to fill up our water glasses The wait for the food was spread out. The drunken chicken came out first, the others in my group said this is organic chicken as it's a little tough,it had bones with it. I felt like it has a hassle eating this tough chicken and trying to eat the little bits of meat stuck to the bone and bones just made me lose enjoyment from this dish. It's a...

Booked a table for 17 people - restaurant said it was fine and that they will provide me two tables as they cant fit 17 people on one table. Reconfirmed the number of people on the day of the booking. When we went to the restaurant, i told them the booking details and was simply ignored by the staff. No one notified me that I had to wait for the table to be cleared (as there were people finishing up their food). Afterwards, they tried to put 17 chairs to one table (which completely did not fit). I advised them that I was told I would be provided 2 tables. They accused me of changing my reservation from 11 to 17 people when this was not true. And that the number of bookings were impossible.... Book a table now
I'm not sure what to do here so will give a neutral review. The good: they have the best spicy pork and bamboo at $20, better than other local sichuan restaurants. BUT!!! last night i paid $40 for tofu and crab... i don't know what to say ... it was only silken tofu with seafood sauce... where was the crab??? $40... and a small container - i was blown away and just felt like i was part of a horrible con job, ruined my night. All night family was laughing at me for losing money on a $4 packet of tofu.... there might have been a funny side to it but i just wanted to go to the shop and flip some tables!!! Also i got a container of vegetables, it was half full - tiny tiny portion and that also...

Dishonest and unpleasant woman on cashier. Even though I was paying cash she tried to charge card surcharge on the total bill, and she would look angry at me when I challenged her on this. She waved her hands like a shut up gesture and in the end she would only give me change in cash that still added a surcharge. I couldn't believe it! No apology but just grumpy and still give me less change than she needed to. We will never come back Meal type: Dinner Price per person: A$40–60 Food: 3 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2
Don't be fooled by the reviews from non-Chinese people, this place is second to none for their 100% authentic shanghainess cuisine. The soup we had taste exact as how I'd expect it to taste had we ordered it in Shanghai. The sweat and sour fried fish (not its proper English name) was devoured within 10 mins. The pork bun had a thin crust and a juicy filling. Hardly had time to take photos before the food disappeared. Next time I will definitely visit with a larger group so we can order more dishes.
