I hadn't been here for a few years but I remembered the last visit as having some great Indian food. Well it didn't start very well firstly they lost our booking - but thankfully they had a vacant table. We ordered our entrees our favourite tandoori players - chicken was dry- the water bottle was dirty- the naan stuffed with lamb was dry actually it was tasteless and burnt- main courses came out - tasty- things were starting to look up until one of the girls was starting to eat when she pulled out of her rice an elastic band!!!! True North Indian - think tandoori, think no oil, think no southern herbs or fruit (coriander, coconut). This bustling restaurant was filled with families, couples and friends - and a large number were Indian, always a good indicator! We ordered a variety and shared - each dish was wonderful: simple, tender, flavoursome. The restaurant was BYO, but luckily we discovered that we could quietly buy a decent red wine by the glass. Everything at this restaurant is first rate. The service is efficient and not imposing. The quality of all of the food is first rate. From the samosas which are large, tasty and chunks to the beef vindaloo which is large chunks of very tender beef in a delicious spicy sauce with a lovely tang from the vinegar. The garlic naan has a lovely coating of garlic. The Butter chicken has a beautiful nutty smokiness. I have been going here for many years and it is always great. The prices here are incredible for the quality. Cheap Eats has recommended it for a good reason.

Ashiana' has been a family favorite for many years and we travel more than 20kms to get there and we are never disappointed. The food is fantastic, authentic Indian, the service is always excellent and the staff are friendly and welcoming and what we really like is that it is BYO and the prices of the meals are very reasonable. You can bring a birthday cake without being charged ' cakeage!' And it is real value for money! Love it!
What can I say! I am a regular and love everything about this place.The staff are helpful and lovely, that coupled with the best Indian in Melbourne is a great combination.Indian is my favourite dish and I have tried many across the world, but nothing comes close to Aashiana, simply the best!If you haven't tried it, you better jump in the car and head to Balwyn!
