Have been here a number of times and the food is excellent but in winter it is truffle season and they get in fresh truffles that are amazing. The truffle risotto is outstanding. The calamari is perfectly cooked and delicious. I usually have the whitebait but today didn't and regretted it initially but the duck breast and confit was a very generous serve so I was glad I didn't order the whitebait and had gone for the truffle risotto instead. Visiting Melbourne, and tried Il Sogno after suggestion from some friends - what a good suggestion it was!Nicely furnished and decorated small restaurant, and you're able to see through to the kitchen which is always a good sign. Nice atmosphere in the place, and the restaurant was full (Tues night).Staff very attentive and knowledgeable about menu options - we were very well taken care of from start to finish, with good suggestions being made to us.We had starters, mains and desserts, and everything was outstanding - I had duck for mains, and it was perfect with the meat falling off the bone, so highly recommend. Was taken here by locals and it shows that local knowledge is a great thing. This is a small simple looking restaurant but it is the food that makes it special. Four of us shared 3 entrees including calimari, meat balls and their special risotto with shaved truffle. As all these entrees are generous this was a lovely way to taste these dishes. I then had an entree serve of beetroot gnocchi which was very delicate and rich. A chocolate panna cota was the perfect finish to a lovely meal.I felt the cost of the meal was reasonable for the quality of food we had and I appreciated the restaurant being BYO which allows you to have a wine or drink of your choice.
This little local gem of a restaurant serves honest well cooked fare at a good price. From the stunning calamari to the excellent pastas and main courses - it never disappoints. The service is friendly and casual and all meals are economically priced. I've never had a bad meal here. Do yourself a favour and give this place a try but make sure you book in advance as it's usually booked out.

I believe the food here is ok even if it is overpriced but I will not be returning. I witnessed a conversation between the manager and a group of people at an adjacent table and was appalled at the naked hostility shown to the group because a few of their party cancelled at the last minute. If this place is still open in 6 months I will be amazed.
Another great venue, great service, great food very enjoyable evening. The restaurant was quite full, but the service was very efficient and the food served was excellent. We really enjoyed the meat balls as a starter and the barramundi was truly fantastic.
What an amazing array of Italian food prepared perfectly. As an unlicensed venue, their focus is on producing exceptional dishes. The service was also impeccable with very attentive staff. I'll definitely add this to my must return lust.
Ate there with friends and all had different dishes. All were very good as usual. Great service and best value with their BYO policy. Great local restaurant but worth the travel if you have to.
